Art
Our Art curriculum is designed to engage, inspire and challenge our children. At Somersham, we teach the appropriate knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create. They are provided with opportunities to gain an understanding of art and design and reflect on how it shapes our history and contributes to culture, creativity and wealth of the nation.
Royal Academy of Arts Young Artists’ Summer Show 2023
Last year Alanna, Charlotte, Lottie, Darcey, Elizabeth, Evelyn, George, Keira, Sophie and Ella submitted their work to the Young Artists’ Summer Show. As you can see above, they used mixed media and chose their own creative themes.
This year’s Summer Show is now open and any child in the school can enter a piece of work . The artwork can be made using any material: it can be a painting, sculpture, photograph, installation, video, drawing, or a combination. Collaborative pieces made by more than one student are also welcomed.
If you child wishes to enter, you need to send a clear photograph of the artwork to Mrs Holland, our Art Subject Lead. You will need to tell Mrs Holland the following information:
· Your child’s name and age
· The name of the piece of work
· The size of the original piece of work
· A few sentences about the artwork and why your child made it. Please include the art media and techniques used
Mrs Holland will upload the photographs and information so it can be submitted. These pieces are then judged by a panel of artists and arts professionals with selected artworks displayed online and on-site at the Royal Academy of Arts. Remember all pupils are welcome to submit a piece of art work so get creative!
The closing date for entries io school is Thursday 23rd March.
