  • Young Voices

    Sat 21 Jan 2023

The School Choir had an amazing time at Young Voices in London this week! They worked so hard all term to prepare lots of songs and were over the moon to perform to their friends and family on Wednesday!

They performed alongside special guests, such as The Beatbox Collective and Heather Small – even recording a charity single of ‘Proud’ with her to support mental health.

It was a very long day for the children, with rehearsals starting at 2pm and arriving back at the school after midnight! Despite this, the children were amazing ambassadors for the school all day, we are so proud of them!

A special thank you to all the adults that helped with the trip and supported the children through the day – I couldn’t have done it without you!

I hope the children have come away with an unforgettable experience – I know I have!

This week, Reception helped to bake and ice cupcakes to celebrate Ted 'The Everywear Bear's' birthday on Friday 2nd December. He was 5. We measured out and mixed all the ingredients on Thursday and iced the cupcakes on Friday. The children enjoyed making the cupcakes and especially loved eating them on Friday afternoon. We also sang 'Happy Birthday' to Ted and danced to party music.

  • New Library area

    Sun 27 Nov 2022

This week, Red Kites enjoyed spending some time in the school’s new library area. We were amazed by the number of new books and very much enjoyed browsing through the newly organised shelves. With so many to choose from, I’m not sure how we’re ever going to decide which one to read first!

On Monday, Year 5/6 welcomed a local magistrate into school as part of our Rights, Rules and Responsibility topic in PSHE. As part of the insightful talk, Mr Watts explained his role in the courtroom and some of the current laws in the UK.

  • KS1 Visit from Hedgehog rescuer

    Sat 12 Nov 2022

As Part of our Science topic this term, KS1 have been learning about animals and their habitats. This week we had a visit from a local hedgehog rescuer who brought along two prickly visitors for us to meet. The children were able to ask questions about hedgehogs and learnt all about how we can provide enticing habitats for them to thrive in our own back gardens

  • Year 3 / 4

    Sun 06 Nov 2022

At the end of last half term, Year 3/4 were very lucky to have a visit from some Historians from the school community who gave up their time to bring History to life!

They were able to share some exciting knowledge about what Celtic life would have been like when the Romans invaded Britain.  We were also able to imagine what it would have been like to be a Roman hearing the Celtic carnyx being played on the battlefield.

  • Red Kite class

    Mon 17 Oct 2022

    Welcome Red Kite class!

It’s been a busy first Half Term for us in Year 5/6!

We started our World War Two History learning at Stibbington in role as evacuees. After an insightful day, we have applied this learning in our English and Reading lessons back at school, reading texts about the war and writing newspaper reports.

  • Village walk

    Sun 16 Oct 2022

Last week, Reception went for a walk around Somersham village. They saw lots of houses and cars; as well as important landmarks such as the church, dentist, library etc. They had a great time! We then came back and drew a map of our walk
